Zuid57: For anyone working in the creative sector, Zuid57 offers an emberassment of riches in facilities and ambiance.
Zuid57 is another old school building (1957) turned business center (link naar Diemensie), which – after a period of vacancy – was transformed into a state-of-the-art venue. The renovations that have given the building its current look and feel were completed in 2012 by architecture firm Studio Leon Thier in conjunction with Workshop of Wonders (link), and a vibrant use of color and unique wall decorations stand as proud proof of this heritage.
Three large floors offer space to around 35 businesses, and a stroll down the long hallways that characterise the building reveal many companies in the creative sector. This is intentional: the aim is to have mainly creatives as tenants.
Many of the building’s facilities enforce this: not only will Zuid57 soon offer extremely fast Gigabit internet, there’s also a fully-featured theater in the building, and the arthouse movie theather Haagse Filmhuis runs a small cinema on the premises as well.
The on-site café (simply named ‘Café’) is not only the place to get a snack, coffee or beer, but also provides free access to the internet for anyone, and can be seen as the most flexible of flexible working spaces.
